Tropical Blue and Purple Eyes

I'm back with an eye look incorporating a bright blue . I have to admit, I've been working on overcoming my aversion to blue eyeshadow. I've never been one for playing around with the stuff, mainly for fear I'll end up looking like some 70s/80s disaster a la:

(Side Note: Notice how makeup companies have been selling the same stuff as "new" for over 30 years? In these ads you have long wearing liquid-to-powder eyeshadow and "creamy" powder shadows, all products we're still seeing today...unfortunately, you also have lashline to eyebrow washes of blue eyeshadow being marketed as "everyday" looks, something that's also come back into fashion recently.)

My aversion to blue eyeshadow is one of the reasons I'm having such difficulty coming up with an eye look for Ravenclaw in my Harry Potter series. But, I digress.

What did I do?

Harry Potter Series_Hufflepuff

I'm back again with a series. This time, an old favourite- Harry Potter.

Starting off with.... Hufflepuff! The colours being, obviously, yellow and black.

Shatter effect nails

Today's bite-sized topic is nail art, specifically shatter nail polish. When this trend first came in, I hated it with a fiery passion. I thought it was so tacky! For the most part (lol) it still is. I have come around to the more subtle versions- dark colours with a black shatter topcoat, particularly. So I went out and bought myself a black shatter topcoat and started playing around.

The results are behind the cut :-)

Look: inspired by OVO

Here's a look I did when going to see Cirque du Soleil's newest show OVO, inspired by the gold and blue of its ad campaign :-)

Review: Naked Palette

This has been a long time coming! I've been doing a series of looks using the Naked Palette for some time now, so I thought it was time to do the proper review.

A bit of background: this palette has been a cult makeup buy since it came out in 2010 and for very good reason. I was slow on the uptake, I only got mine early this year, but it's seen plenty of use since!

Review: Revlon Lip Butters

Today I'm reviewing a product the beauty blog world has been raving about these for a fair while now- Revlon Lip Butters.

There has been SO MUCH HYPE about these- I read all the reviews before they'd even come out, so naturally I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I went out and got these when they first came out with a "buy one, get one free" deal at Priceline, so I got them for half price, effectively.

Tropical Pink Eye Look

I've been knee-deep in very neutral eye look territory lately, so I decided to step out for a moment and try something BRIGHT!

Variations on a theme_sparkly purple eyes

While I'm on a purple eyeshadow roll, here's another look I did using the Napoleon Perdis Loose Eye Dust in Violet Femme and L'Oreal Color Infallible Purple Obsession (plus fake eyelashes and Make Up Store glitter eyeliner in soft pink).
